We’re always amazed by the support we get from the film community at Night of Shorts, and at our 3rd festival, we really felt the love! We opened submissions up to the public for the first time, and received over sixty(!) short films and music videos. We were able to showcase twelve short films and music videos, eleven of which were made right here in the Bay Area, and one all the way from New York! The curation included everything from music videos, to comedies, to intense dramas, and even featured several projects shot on film. Thanks to a higher headcount allowance from our location sponsor, Ciel Creative Space, this was the highest attended Night of Shorts, and it still sold out days ahead of the event! Our content team really went above and beyond with the promos, which inspired our theme: we come to this place for magic. Honestly, how could Nicole Kidman’s iconic AMC promo NOT inspire us?

Bad Thoughts – Daddy's Girl

While begrudgingly joining her Eastern European father for a round of his beloved sport, "Daddy's Girl" gets wrapped up in fantasy while trying to catch the attention of some local skater boys. Shot on 16mm film, director Brandon Tauszik leads viewers on a nostalgic trip to the days of adolescence.
