We received almost NINETY submissions for this round of Night of Shorts, AND we sold out in record time, AND we have more incredible sponsors than ever, AND it’s our first screening as an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit! We are incredibly honored that the amazing filmmakers that submitted want to be a part of this special night, and we couldn’t do it without the support of our Bay Area Film Community. The incredible line up made the audience laugh, cry, ponder their own existence… even bust out the robot (disco roboto that is).

This film combines the artist and the filmmaker’s shared love of classic sci-fi, everyday adventure, and laser wolves. Shot on luscious super 16mm film in the heart of the Bay Area and the outer universe, this escapist visual transcends time and space to tell the story of two Salamis who are galaxies apart and how the power of music can unite and save them from their anxieties and fears.

This experimental short is an intimate, character-focused exploration of the black experience at Burning Man. It was not my priority to capture Burning Man itself, but the energy exchange that it has with the diaspora. My goal is this piece inspires curiosity.
